Pastoral care for
pregnancy after loss

Pregnancy after loss is a time of both/and.

You may be experiencing the joy, hope, and wonder of a new pregnancy alongside grief, fear, anxiety, and anger. As a loss mom, you may find yourself wracked with anxiety over losing this pregnancy, or may struggle to connect to this pregnancy and baby. On the other hand, you may feel guilt as you experience joy and new milestones with this baby.

As a chaplain for pregnancy and loss, I’m here to hold a compassionate space for the wide range of feelings that come with this time.

Depending on your needs, pastoral care for pregnancy after loss can look like:

  • Rituals to honor the baby you lost and welcome the baby you now carry

  • Emotional and spiritual care for ultrasounds, medical appointments, or viability milestones

  • Processing complicated feelings around announcing this pregnancy or connecting with your baby

  • Talking about the unique hopes, fears, and upcoming milestones that come with your current week of pregnancy

  • Talking through your birth plan or fears about delivery after a traumatic or painful loss

  • Processing fear and questions in a faith-based setting

These sessions take place in a private 60-minute virtual meeting. I also offer birth planning support specifically for rainbow pregnancies, where a focus on comfort and relaxation measures can be especially impactful.
